The former chair of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR), Amien Rais, said on Sunday he was disappointed with the performance of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
“The KPK looks to have a pattern now. When it was asked to decipher the Bank Century scandal, the case of former Bank Indonesia senior deputy governor Miranda Goeltom and Gayus H. Tambunan’s graft case, it always says there is not enough evidence,” he said Sunday, as quoted by tribunnews.com.
He said there should be a reelection for all KPK leadership positions, except for the newly elected KPK chair, Busyro Muqoddas.
“The KPK’s image is declining. There is no public trust in the KPK now,” he said.
Your comments:
I agree about the KPK. I think the KPK has made a strong commitment to
fight against corruption in this country. Corruption is a sin, and we
don’t want to have sin in our life.
Corruption destroys everything. Before it destroys us, let’s eradicate
it first. But don’t just say you will fight against corruption just to
elevate your reputation.

Amien Rais’ observations and recommendations are valid enough for the government to act upon.
The three cases mentioned (Century, Goeltom and Gayus) have, of course,
been politically hijacked by interests that now unfortunately go beyond
the influence of Rais. His comeback may blow some fresh wind through the
stuffy corridors of power.

We were extremely disappointed with your performance when you finally had the chance to influence the governing of Indonesia.
You were an outspoken activist with a lot of potential. You could have
been a leader. Indonesia continued to spiral downward into the mire of
corruption.
If you have learned your lesson, then make a comeback, but, take no prisoners this time.
