AKARTA: Former National Police chief Gen. (ret) Bambang Hendarso Danuri was appointed president commissioner of state-owned railway operator PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI), State-Owned Enterprises Minister Mustafa Abubakar said Thursday.
Mustafa said Bambang’s experience in security issues was a factor in appointing him to the post.
“Bambang has the potential to bring order to the operator because [KAI] is a victim of public vandalism, for instance, by youths who throw stones at trains. [Bambang] fits the position because of his experience,” Mustafa said after the inauguration ceremony at his office in Jakarta.
The minister on the same day also removed and replaced several KAI commissioners and reshuffled the posts of several of the directors at the State Logistics Agency (Bulog). — JP
