The Persema Malang player will star in the film Tendangan dari Langit (A Kick from Heaven) produced by Sinemart.
“What’s important for me is that the schedules for football practice and acting in the movie are compatible,” he said as quoted by Kompas.com.
Shooting will start on May 25.
The Amsterdam-born star said he had accepted the offer to play in the movie because he would not have to act as someone else. The film tells the story of a high-school boy who dreams of becoming a soccer star.
“We don’t need to act. What I do is just the usual,” he said.
Irfan said he was not worried about being critiqued on his role in the film. “I will try to act well. If there is criticism, hopefully it won’t attack me,” he said.
Asked whether he would act in other films, he answered: “I don’t know”. — JP
