ome Minister Gamawan Fauzi inaugurated on Friday Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) politician Ganjar Pranowo and Heru Sudjatmoko as Central Java governor and deputy governor, respectively, for the 2013-2018 term.

The swearing-in ceremony, which began at 9 a.m., was attended by local lawmakers, Youth and Sports Minister Roy Suryo and the leader of the PDI-P faction in the House of Representatives, Puan Maharani.

Yogyakarta Governor Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X, PDI-P-backed Central Kalimantan Governor Agustin Teras Narang and West Kalimantan Governor Cornelis, along with several other ministers were also present at Friday's ceremony.

'This swearing-in is witnessed by God and is a promise to God [to serve the public for people's welfare],' Gamawan said during the ceremony as quoted by tribunnews.com.

Gamawan also reminded Ganjar and Heru to eradicate corruption, which they had pledged to do during their election campaign.

Ganjar won the Central Java gubernatorial election by gaining 6,962,417 ballots or 48,82 percent of the vote, and was named the official winner by the Central Java General Elections Commission (KPUD) on June 4. (hrl)
