oni Tata Pradita became the first Indonesian rider to win a point in the history of the Moto2 World Championship after he finished 15th, his best position in the 2013 racing season, on the Philip Island Circuit, Australia, on Sunday.

The 23-year-old Federal Oil Gresini Moto2 rider started in 25th position just behind Rafid Topan Sucipto, the other Indonesian rider in the championship who was riding for the QMMF Racing Team.

Doni managed to improve his position and finished 15th, the last points position. Rafid, 19-years-old, also passed some riders to reach 16th position but ended in 20th.

The Moto2 race in Australia saw Spanish rider Pol Espargaro secure first on the podium, followed by Swiss Thomas Luthi and another Spaniard Jordi Torres.

Doni's first point saw him reach 28th position in the standings. Espargaro is currently top with 240 points, followed by the British rider Scott Redding (224).

The Moto2 championship is the second highest class below the MotoGP.

The two races left in the 2013 season are the Motegi Grand Prix in Japan on Oct. 27 and the final in Valencia, Spain, on Nov. 10.

This year is the first Moto2 season for both Doni and Rafid.

In 2008, Doni raced for the Yamaha Pertamina Indonesia Team in the 250cc class of the MotoGP championship where he won a point for finishing 15th in Shanghai, China. He was the first Indonesian rider to participate in a full season of a MotoGP World Championship.
