residential candidate Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo has said that three Golkar politicians have been dismissed by their party for choosing to support senior party member and vice presidential candidate Jusuf Kalla.

'They have been dismissed because they support Pak Jusuf Kalla. As active Golkar members, they'd rather support the party's former chairman,' said Jokowi as quoted by Antara news agency in Palembang on Tuesday evening.

He refused to comment further on Golkar's decision, saying that it was an internal affair of the party.

On Tuesday morning, Golkar chairman Aburizal Bakrie fired party members ' Poempida Hidayatulloh Djatiutomo, Nusron Wahid, and Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita ' following their official declaration of support for Jokowi-Kalla.

The party's executive board chairman, Mahyudin, said a number of local party members, including West Sulawesi Governor Anwar Adnan Saleh, had also been deactivated due to their support for Jokowi-Kalla.

Kalla is currently a member of the party's advisory board.

Separately, Kalla said that the dismissal was a bit harsh, but refused to comment on the decision. 'All policies and political decisions have their own risks,' said Kalla.

Golkar, along with the Gerindra Party, the National Mandate Party (PAN), the United Development Party (PPP), and the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), formed a coalition supporting the Prabowo Subianto-Hatta Rajasa ticket. The coalition secured 292 or 45.3 percent of total seats at the House of Representatives during the legislative election on April 9. (gda/ebf)
