he China badminton team has set the score to an even 1-1 against Indonesia in the semifinals of the Sudirman Cup in Dongguan, China, on Saturday after the Indonesian women's singles Bellaetrix Manuputty withdrew for injury.
Bellaetrix was playing a 5-3 game against Li Xuerui from China when the Indonesian suffered an injury to her left knee.
Indonesian men's doubles team Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan scored the first point against the Chinese pair Cai Yun and Fu Haifeng, and later went on to win 21-16, 21-17.
'We applied an offense strategy. We kept on attacking them, especially in the middle sector,' said Ahsan on Saturday as quoted by Antara news agency.
The final result of the semifinals will depend on the remaining men's singles, women's doubles and mixed doubles.
The match between Indonesian men's singles Jonatan Christie and Chen Long is still ongoing.
The next matches are between Indonesian women's doubles Nitya Krishinda Maheswari and Greysia Polii and Chinese women's doubles Tang Yuanting and Yu Yang as well as Indonesian mixed doubles Tontowi Ahmad and Liliyana Natsir against Zhang Nan and Zhao Yunlei. (fsu)(++++)
