Vice President Jusuf Kalla inaugurated on Thursday Kompas’ new tower in Central Jakarta on Thursday.  

“Congratulations to Kompas and its big family,” Kalla said during his speech.

Kompas Gramedia CEO Lilik Oetama said the inauguration of  Kompas Tower marked 50 years of Kompas newspaper.

The shape of the tower resembles a pen, which is an important communication tool. The pen also symbolizes the future of the company, from its newspaper to electronic media with Kompas Gramedia Group.

The tower’s exterior is covered with aluminum metallic material with random digital patterns that resemble the present and future of electronic media.

The inauguration was attended by representatives of ministries and other important figures, including Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan and former president Megawati Soekarnoputri. (hol)
