akartans are invited to tour Japanese warships JS Inazuma and JS Suzutsuki while they are docked at the Jakarta International Container (JICT) 2 dock in Tanjung Priok Port, North Jakarta.

Japanese Escort Flotilla 4 commander First Adm. Tatsuya Fukuda said JS Inazuma and JS Suzutsuki would be open to the public on Thursday and Friday.

“While we are in port in Jakarta, we plan to hold a meeting with the Indonesian Navy while JS Inazuma and JS Suzutsuki will open [their doors] to the public,” Fukuda said on Tuesday, kompas.com reported.

He said he hoped the move would introduce the Japanese warships to Indonesians, especially Jakartans.

“I expect Indonesians will better understand Japan and JMSDF [Japan Maritime Self Defense Forces] with this opportunity,” Fukuda said.

Three Japanese warships, JS Kaga, JS Inazuma and JS Suzutsuki, are in port in Jakarta Bay from Tuesday to Saturday to participate in a joint drill with several Asia-Pacific countries, including Indonesia. (ami)
