South Tangerang advances with multi-benefit waste demolisher

Growing satellite city South Tangerang faces similar incessant waste issues as the rest of Jakarta and its surrounding areas, but baby steps have been taken as a new waste processing initiative has emerged to manage solid waste piling up in the city. South Tangerang in Banten province sends an average of 1,070 tons of waste daily to its landfills, according to data from the Environment and Forestry Ministry last year. Of the figure, as much as 615 tons go untreated, meaning it is not sorted or turned into other materials such as compost. ABU and Co, a private integrated waste processing facility in Serpong, South Tangerang, has taken action to minimize and utilize solid waste.
