ollowing the blackout that disrupted activities across West Java and Greater Jakarta on Sunday, state electricity firm PLN has warned there will be further, planned, power outages in several regions as repairs get under way.
PLN acting president director Sripeni Inten Cahyani said the planned outages could last until Monday evening.
“I can’t say exactly how long the planned outages will last. But we’re expecting other major power plants to balance out the base load starting from 2 p.m.,” she told the press.
PLN spokesman Dwi Suryo Abdullah called on the public to only trust official information from the firm. He went on to say that a chain message circulating on social media announcing that there would be planned power outages every three hours was misinformation.
“The planned outages won’t be conducted every three hours. It’s simply false,” Dwi said.
He urged the public to only refer to verified information on the company’s official social media channels.
However, the official PLN power monitoring website, pelita.plnjaya.co.id, was down at the time of writing.
