South Sumatra Disaster and Mitigation Agency head of emergency affairs Ansori said that Andrey was the ground engineer for an RA-22583 water-bombing helicopter.
“He did not work on the helicopter. He was in charge of the helicopter’s engine before it took off,” he said on Tuesday.
Three days before he passed, Andrey had a day off and was staying at his hotel when at around 5 p.m., he reportedly called site manager Pavel Zakharov and complained about having difficulties breathing.
Pavel immediately took Andrey to Palembang Siloam Hospital.
“The doctor identified a blood vessel constriction in Andrey’s brain. He had to undergo an intensive examination on the same day,” Ansori explained.
On Sunday, the hospital said Andrey had suffered a cardiac arrest at 5:45 p.m. He was pronounced dead shortly after.
