Up to 156 ideas have been posted on the BERiDE platform. However, none of the ideas have been followed up or rejected by the Jakarta administration.
espite promising to be a platform for residents to crowdsource ideas to develop Jakarta in any way, the startup BERiDE has yet to gain traction after a year since launching as none of the ideas posted on the website have been followed up by the Jakarta administration.
Launched in May 2018 by then-Jakarta deputy governor Sandiaga Uno, the website is expected to complement the city’s complaint-handling system, where residents are expected to give ideas instead of filing complaints.
The platform is still available at jakarta.beride.id where anyone can register to post their ideas and to view ideas posted by others.
Fanny, 27, an employee of a private company in Jakarta, has regularly used complaint-handling app Qlue since 2015, so she tried to post one of her ideas on BERiDE via the website.
“I once tried to post an idea about recycling. But there has been no follow up after that,” Fanny said.
Every idea posted is supposed to be composed of a picture illustration, a map location where the idea can be implemented, background, details of the idea and the expected impacts of the idea. Other users can also comment and give a “like” to each idea.
As of Sunday afternoon, 156 ideas had been posted on the website. However, none of the ideas have been followed up or rejected by the city administration.
