The police conducted a raid four days after the gambling allegedly started on Dec. 15 and arrested a total of 28 suspects, 11 of whom were allegedly bookmakers and 17 of whom were allegedly players.
early two weeks after a batu goyang (bingo-like game) gambling ring was shut down, Food Garden in Seasons City Mall in West Jakarta was still in partial operation.
The outdoor section of the restaurant, where the gambling took place, was cordoned off by a police line. The indoor area, which protrudes into the southern part of the mall, continued to operate even though people were reluctant to visit.
The head of the criminal investigation unit of the West Jakarta Police, Comr. Teuku Arsya Khadafi, said that after raiding the restaurant on Dec. 19, the police had begun investigating the mall management for possibly providing access for the illicit operation.
“We are currently investigating deeper, and we will find out any information related to licensing that the mall management might have given for the gambling there,” Arsya told The Jakarta Post recently.

In the batu goyang gambling ring, the players bought cards that contained certain numbers. Numbers would later be randomly announced by bookmakers.
