NE Championship veteran Garry “The Lion Killer” Tonon is no stranger to sharing his thoughts online. The American grappler has gained notoriety for witty responses to fighters’ comments about him, and he is known for his unfiltered perspective.

So, it was unsurprising that he had some quick feedback ready for Shamil “The Cobra” Gasanov after the latter's post-fight interview at ONE Fight Night 3: Lineker vs. Andrade.

The Russian debutant defeated Kim Jae Woong via first-round submission at the action-packed spectacle, and he took to the microphone following the match to claim that he would make short work of Tonon if they were ever to cross paths inside the ONE Circle.

The Lion Killer was none too pleased with Gasanov’s words, and he sounded off on Instagram soon after.

“Heard I got called out, what’s the word?” Tonon said.

“Shamil says I don't last five minutes with him. What do you think? Do I succumb to the mixed martial arts Russian invasion? Or do I break off his leg, use it to fly our flag, and make Ronald Reagan and the American people proud?”

He is currently No. 2 in the featherweight division and has taken out a plethora of dangerous opponents throughout his storied tenure in ONE.

Gasanov believes the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt is old news in the promotion. The Cobra continued the heated war of words after Tonon’s response by claiming the American owes him for mentioning his name in the Circle.

The unbeaten 27-year-old sensation threw further fuel on the growing fire when he said that a battle between him and The Lion Killer would likely be the latter’s last.

"He should be grateful people are talking about him now, he should thank me. ONE has put him on the shelf, forgot about him already. If he wants to come back, I will help him to retire,” Gasanov said.
