View all search resultsA senior Israeli official and Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib appeared optimistic that a deal could be reached, cooling a second front for Israel's military that is also battling the Palestinian militant group Hamas in Gaza.
The remarks attributed to Macron during a cabinet meeting Tuesday that Israel needed to adhere to UN resolutions in its campaigns in Lebanon and Gaza as it was created by the world body have angered Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
"As Israel fights the forces of barbarism led by Iran, all civilised countries should be standing firmly by Israel's side. Yet, President Macron and other Western leaders are now calling for arms embargoes against Israel. Shame on them," Netanyahu said in a statement issued by his office.
During his meeting with Macron, Prabowo congratulated France for hosting the Paris Olympics and conveyed his appreciation for the French president's role in maintaining and improving the bilateral relationship between Indonesia and France on various sectors, including security and defense.
