The team revealed the first campaign was carried out by InsightID, an Indonesian communications firm. According to the report, the firm had been promoting pro-Indonesian government content on various websites and social media accounts aimed at international audiences.
In the context of Papua, without the internet, it would be difficult for a group of people that experience injustice and discrimination to tell their stories to foster the much-needed awareness of these injustices.Because of this, limitations on internet access should be regarded as an attack on democracy.
Jokowi directly held the meeting on Friday night after returning from a visit to Yogyakarta. There have been mounting calls for the government, including Jokowi himself, to conduct a dialogue with residents in the provinces to end the crisis.
