View all search resultsThe plan to double palm oil production is still environmentally, technically and commercially feasible because there are still large areas outside the natural forests that are fit for oil palm estate expansion.
The next government needs to aim for integrated, coherent policies to regulate the palm oil industry, especially in view of the mainstay commodity's declining production trend and the country's development and energy transition goals.
Under the plan, announced by Chee Hong Tat at the Changi Aviation Summit on the eve of the Singapore Airshow, the country aims for a 1 percent SAF target from 2026 and plans to raise it to 3-5 percent by 2030, subject to global developments and the wider availability and adoption of SAF.
