View all search resultsThe National Police Commission (Kompolnas) has urged the National Police to push for criminal investigations into the suspected extortion of attendants of the Djakarta Warehouse Project (DWP) music festival, as the force wrapped up its ethics hearings against officers allegedly involved in the scandal.
The National Police's internal affairs is continuing its crackdown to weed out unethical officers who were involved in the extortion of foreign festivalgoers at DWP 2024, which has only tarnished the law enforcement institution further amid an ongoing decline in public trust.
The National Police's internal affairs chief has announced an ethics hearing for 18 police officers alleged of extorting 45 Malaysian revelers at Jakarta's DWP dance music festival earlier this month.
There have been protests against the DWP since 2017, coincidentally the year Anies Baswedan was elected Jakarta governor, with some Islamist groups visiting the venue at the JIEXPO Kemayoran in Central Jakarta to protest.
