View all search resultsThe idea of developing South Jakarta for halal tourism was first announced by former deputy governor Sandiaga Uno, who said the municipality was expected to be fully ready as a competitive halal tourist destination in Asia by 2020.
Out of approximately 63 million female travelers, two-thirds of whom were age 40 years or below, up to 28 percent embarked on solo journeys, indicating an increasing passion among this particular segment to explore the world.
“There is no need to make a fuss anymore. Come on, there are more important jobs to do rather than to only talk about it [halal tourism],” Luhut said during his visit to Laguboti, Toba Samosir regency, North Sumatra, last week.
Amid the hullabaloo, a poster for the Lake Toba Pork Festival has circulated on social media. The event, which will take place from Oct. 25 to 26, is set to feature a pork-based culinary competition, selfies with pigs and a pig stall-cleaning competition, among other things, according to the poster.
