View all search resultsThe usual Jakarta chaos was exacerbated on Monday by heavy rainfall and strong winds that left in their wake flooded roads and toppled trees along the capital’s main thoroughfares, disrupting transportation services and causing severe traffic congestion.
Heavy rain over the past few days has caused severe flooding that inundated several roads in Tebingtinggi Barat district, Meranti Islands, Riau. Twenty-four families of Kundur village are isolated, because the main road to the area is submerged by 1-meter deep floodwater.
Water had inundated many parts of the capital city, following heavy rain on Tuesday. The Jakarta Disaster Mitigation Agency’s operational center reported that up to 2 p.m., at least 11 roads had been inundated with floodwater levels between 10 to 40 centimeters.
A mudslide and flooding triggered by intense rainfall that soaked Jakarta throughout Friday afternoon and evening led to the evacuation of the Pondok Labu district in South Jakarta. However, no casualties were reported.
