View all search resultsThe government has issued a loosely-worded statement days ahead of the expected signing of a tariff agreement with the United States, following a weekend meeting at President Prabowo Subianto’s Hambalang estate in Bogor, West Java.
Trump's newly announced "world tariff" plan for rates between 15 and 20 percent has left the government in a state of agitated ambiguity, especially following the comprehensive concessions Indonesia has made to secure a 19 percent tariff via the recently agreed framework trade deal with the US.
The government currently sees no need to send another delegation to the United States for the negotiations on tariffs as it believes it has made its case for open bilateral trade and says the ball is now in the US’ court.
