The final unit price of the Jakarta-Bandung railway, some US$52 million per kilometer, is higher than that of China’s high-speed rail, which cost between $17 million and $30 million per kilometer, as well as France’s, which cost $24 million per kilometer.
State-owned energy company PT Pertamina has quietly received a state capital injection (PMN) of Rp 3.37 trillion (US$40.47 billion), based on a presidential regulation (PP) signed on Oct. 3. Pertamina has received this PMN to fortify the state-owned enterprise's (SOE) capital structure as well as to fund the capacity of its business activities. Interestingly, the SOE received this PMN through PP No. 48/2023 on PMN allotment to PT Pertamina. The use of the presidential regulation means that the PMN was given solely through the President's authority without getting approval by the House of Representatives.
Lawmakers have rejected state-owned electricity firm PLN’s request for Rp 10 trillion (US$651.4 million) in public funds for the improvement of the country’s energy infrastructure, pointing to a lack of clarity on the utility’s priorities and use of funds.
The State-Owned Enterprises Ministry plans to raise money for state-owned firms through multiple rights issues in the second half of this year, followed by more than Rp 73 trillion worth of state capital injections next year.
