The Weekender was planning to publish a feature on Lilie Wijayati Poegiono after she successfully summited Indonesia’s highest peak and completed her quest to climb the country's seven summits. Tragically, she and her best friend passed away on March 1 at the age of 59, shortly after beginning their descent from Puncak Jaya.
The bodies of climbers Elsa Laksono and Lilie Wijayanti Poegiono have been flown back to Jakarta after the school friends perished on Saturday during their descent from Puncak Jaya, one of the fabled "Seven Summits" of Indonesia, after installing a memorial plaque for another friend who died during his attempt last year.
