View all search resultsThe Ubud Writers and Readers Festival (UWRF) has become one of the most popular fixtures on Indonesia’s cultural calendar. This year, the festival will be held from Oct. 27 to 30, bringing together more than 150 writers, activists, artists and performers.
Among the festival's guests of 100 storytellers and culinary figures are the author of the Crazy Rich Asians trilogy, Kevin Kwan, Haitian-American writer Edwidge Danticat, Barack Obama’s sister Maya Soetoro-Ng, Indonesian writers Eka Kurniawan and Dee Lestari as well as chef Chris Salans and international food journalist James Oseland.
Under the banner of this year's theme, Karma, the festival features 180 authors, artists, and activists appearing in over 170 events, including panel discussions, performances, workshops, film screenings and book launches from Oct. 23-27.
