The new terminal is 29,124 square meters and can accommodate up to 2,200 people per day.
Several routes to and from Tjilik Riwut Airport in Palangkaraya, Central Kalimantan, will be reopened following the opening of its new terminal.
The airport’s acting executive general manager, Paryono, said the airport would reopen the previously closed routes after considering input from Central Kalimantan residents who wanted more flights to and from the province, as well as to support the local economy and tourism sector.
“Some of the routes that will be reopened are flights from Palangkaraya to Jakarta and Surakarta operated by Batik Air and Citilink,” he said in a statement as quoted by kompas.com on Wednesday.
Paryono added that the airport also planned to open new routes from Makassar to Palangkaraya, which would be operated by Citilink.
