Biden and Prabowo have committed to enhancing bilateral ties between the US and Indonesia, during a call from the US president to congratulate the president-elect on his election victory.
nited States President Joe Biden spoke late last week with president-elect Prabowo Subianto to congratulate him on his election victory, said White House national security communications aide John Kirby.
Kirby added that Biden pledged to expand cooperation with Indonesia under the US-Indonesia comprehensive partnership in the Indo-Pacific economic framework.
"The President and president-elect commended the United States and Indonesia for celebrating 75 years of diplomatic relations grounded in shared values of democracy and pluralism," the White House said in a statement on Friday.
"President Biden pledged [...] to work together towards an Indo-Pacific that is free, open, prosperous, and secure," added the White House statement.
Prabowo uploaded on Sunday a social media post containing details of his phone call with Biden, saying he was "deeply honored to receive a congratulatory call on the results of our election from the President of the United States".
"We are committed to continue and enhance this partnership between our two great nations, and I look forward to working with you in the future," Prabowo said.
