The S$350 million (US$256 million) project allows Mount Elizabeth Hospital to convert the multi-bed rooms into single-bed ones and to procure new medical technologies.
program to rejuvenate medical services in a Singaporean private hospital has entered its final year, with investments in infrastructure renovation and new healthcare technology to improve treatment and patient recovery.
Mount Elizabeth Hospital, managed by private healthcare group IHH Healthcare Singapore, launched Project Renaissance in January 2023, a S$350 million (US$257 million) project with the aim of renewing the medical facility’s clinical offerings, patient experience and operational efficiency.
The three-year project is entering its final stages, with renovations expected to be finished by December this year.
“Our vision is to revamp healthcare standards by incorporating best possible medical interventions, treatment outcomes and operations. These are very big words because this is a renovation that hasn’t been done in 45 years,” Mount Elizabeth Hospital CEO Yong Yih Ming said during a press briefing in December.
The Jakarta Post attended a media visit hosted by IHH Healthcare Singapore from Dec. 8 to 10 to look at the ongoing renovation and overall Renaissance Project.
The hospital’s transformation also showcases its commitment to preserve its historical legacy as a prime provider of patient care in the region, said Yong, who is also the chief operating officer of IHH Healthcare Singapore.
Established in the late 1970s, Mount Elizabeth Hospital pushed for renovations to accommodate its growing needs and number of patients. The hospital received 34,900 patients for inpatient care and 105,516 others for outpatient services in the January to December period of 2023.
