P

resident Prabowo Subianto and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko launched a new five-year cooperation roadmap between both countries during the latter’s visit to Jakarta on Thursday, pledging closer ties and expanded cooperation in key sectors, including energy and food security.

On Thursday, Lukashenko arrived at the Merdeka Palace at around 11:25 a.m., escorted from the National Monument (Monas) complex by a ceremonial convoy of motorcycle and horse outriders.

He later held a closed-door meeting with Prabowo, talking about strategic issues and various bilateral cooperation between both countries, according to statements issued by the Presidential Secretariat.

After the talks, the two leaders unveiled the Indonesia-Belarus Cooperation Roadmap 2026-2030, which Prabowo described as a framework to guide bilateral relations over the next five years. It would also translate political commitments into more concrete cooperation in trade, investment, industrial development, technology and education.

“This visit marks the increasingly close friendship between Indonesia and Belarus. Amid an evolving global landscape marked by growing uncertainty, Belarus is an important partner for Indonesia in the Eurasian region,” Prabowo said in the joint statement after the bilateral meeting.

He added both countries have potential to expand collaboration in various sectors, such as modern agriculture and technology. In the future, the cooperation between Indonesia and Belarus will focus on industrial development, agricultural modernization and supply chain strengthening, among other areas.
