As the general election draws closer, a study has revealed that business stakeholders are undecided about their choices.

A survey released by CNBC Indonesia Intelligence Unit on Tuesday found that 44.19 percent of business stakeholders in Indonesia had yet to make up their minds as to whom they would prefer among the three big names of suggested candidates for the 2024 presidential election.

The three figures seen as likely contenders are former Jakarta governor Anies Baswedan, Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo and Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto.

Only two of them found strong favor with survey respondents, however, namely Ganjar with 27.91 percent, followed by Prabowo with 25.58 percent, while Anies lands far behind with 2.33 percent.

Most of those who picked either Ganjar or Prabowo as their preferred presidential candidates did so on the assumption that those politicians would continue the programs and policies of President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, the study finds, noting that this was in line with signals of endorsement from the incumbent for those two.

Indonesian businesses have expressed concern that the economy may not be the priority for any of the current presidential hopefuls based on their backgrounds.
