aw material procurement start-up Bababos bagged US$3 million in its latest seed funding round led by East Ventures, with the company seeking to cater to 1,000 small and medium manufacturers by the end of 2023, more than double its current client base.

Bababos, which is currently available in the Greater Jakarta and Surabaya areas, aims to help small and medium manufacturers access cheaper resources, ranging from steel, polymers and chemicals, and provide them with flexible payment terms.

Bababos cofounder and CEO Fajar Adiwidodo said on Tuesday the fresh funds would be used to develop its digital platform, which digitizes all small and medium manufacturers’ procurement processes and uses big data to better track demand based on the raw materials and geographical needs.

As of today, Bababos has reached over 400 small and medium manufacturers, the majority of which claim to have experienced a two- to three-fold increase in business.

“We are optimistic about the market potential as we’ve witnessed a significant demand increase from small and medium manufacturers until the end of the third quarter,” Fajar said in a statement.
