Arsjad Rasjid, 53, has temporarily stepped down as chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) following his decision to accept his appointment as manager of presumptive nominee Ganjar Pranowo’s presidential campaign.
Arsjad, who is also president director of diversified miner Indika Energy, said he had applied for leave from the company for similar reasons.
“This decision is purely personal and does not have anything to do with Kadin,” Arsjad said in a statement on Wednesday.
“This is in order to uphold my commitment to neutrality and good governance,” he said.

Kadin said it would remain neutral in the upcoming presidential election and campaign. The lobby group also said it accepted Arsjad’s decision and has appointed Yukki Nugrahawan Hanafi as acting chair for the time being. Yukki is currently Kadin deputy chair for organization, law and communication.
“There must be no conflicts of interest at KADIN Indonesia," Yukki said in the same statement.
