In line with a statement made during his shock resignation reveal last Monday, Bambang has now been appointed special presidential envoy for international cooperation for the IKN development project.
resident Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has appointed Bambang Susantono, the former head of the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) Authority, as the IKN project’s special envoy for international cooperation.
The appointment comes just days after Bambang’s resignation as IKN Authority head was revealed in a surprise announcement last week.
“The President has received the resignation letter from Bambang,” State Secretary Pratikno said on June 3 at the presidential palace compound in Jakarta.
On the same day however, Pratikno said Bambang would be given a new assignment by the President, Kompas.com reported.

Bambang’s new position was formalized in a presidential decree signed on Tuesday.
“On June 11, the President signed Presidential Decree No. 39/M/2024 on the appointment of Bambang Susantono as the Special Presidential Envoy for International Cooperation on the Development of the Nusantara Capital City,” Ari Dwipayana, coordinator of Jokowi's special aides, announced on Thursday, as quoted by Antara.
