nindya Bakrie was appointed chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) for the 2024-2029 period in an extraordinary national congress held on Saturday, despite opposition from the current leadership, which has called the move illegitimate and insists Arsjad Rasjid remains in position.

"Thank you to everyone who supported me. I aim to be a chairman for all [members], not just those who voted for me today,” Anindya announced through his Instagram account on Saturday.

"Challenges are common in any organization, […] it’s better to face them early on rather than later. I ask for your support in overcoming obstacles and seizing the opportunities of the future in 2025," he continued.

The election process was led by Golkar Party deputy chair Nurdin Halid and attended by high-profile figures, including People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Speaker Bambang Soesatyo, Kadin deputy chair Erwin Aksa and Investment Minister Rosan Roeslani.

Anindya’s father, senior Golkar Party politician Aburizal Bakrie, was also present.

Bambang said Anindya, who serves as CEO and president of Bakrie & Brothers, would be sworn in as chairman on Monday, CNBC Indonesia reported on Saturday.
