ormer foreign minister Retno LP Marsudi has been appointed non-executive director of Singapore-based renewable energy developer Gurīn Energy, which has a total of 7 gigawatts of solar, wind and energy storage projects in the pipeline across Asia.
Gurīn Energy chairman Vimal Vallabh, a partner and global head of energy at investment management firm HRL Morrison & Co., said the company sought to “move more robustly and further on [its] mission to accelerate [the] energy transition in Asia” with the appointment of Retno.
Retno, who is also Indonesia’s current United Nations secretary-general special envoy on water, will provide strategic guidance to Gurīn Energy’s management team and contribute to the company governance’s robustness and effectiveness, the company said in a statement issued on Friday.
“I am delighted to be appointed to the board of directors of Gurīn Energy, a dynamic renewable energy company that is taking bold strides to bring about a clean energy future where it operates: Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Indonesia and the rest of Southeast Asia,” Retno said in the statement.
Gurīn Energy is owned by its management team and Infratil Ltd., a listed infrastructure investment firm with renewable energy platforms in the United States, Europe and Australia and a development pipeline of over 30 GW.
Infratil Ltd is managed by Morrison & Co.
