orestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni’s decision to appoint himself and other members of his political party to the country’s Forestry and Other Land Use (FOLU) Net Sink 2030 team has prompted calls from the public and lawmakers for donor countries to reassess their funding.

At least 12 members of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), including Raja, who also serves as PSI secretary-general, and deputy chairman Andy Budiman, have been appointed to the program’s Operation Management Office (OMO), sparking allegations of political favoritism and potential misuse of funds.

Senior Golkar Party lawmaker Firman Soebagyo criticized the appointments on Saturday, arguing that “the government is now a political tool to achieve certain goals, which contradicts the law,” Kompas.id reported.

Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) lawmaker Alex Indra Lukman echoed such concerns, demanding full transparency in the selection process and accusing Raja of failing to uphold “good governance and clean government” principles.

He emphasized that the grant-funded program should allocate more resources to actual initiatives rather than being spent primarily on team members’ salaries.

“If he refuses to be transparent, the public will see the Forestry Minister’s decision as nothing more than a political handout to his allies—completely at odds with President Prabowo Subianto’s vision,” he said.
