P

ower supplies across Jakarta have been fully restored, state-owned electricity utility PLN has said, following a major disruption on Thursday evening that sent several neighborhoods into darkness, knocked out traffic systems and disrupted MRT services.

The blackout, which began at approximately 5:57 p.m., originated from a disturbance at a main substation, affecting distribution networks across multiple districts.

PLN UID Jakarta Raya senior manager of communications and public affairs, Haris Andika, in a statement issued on Thursday, assured the public that normalization efforts had been completed.

“By 8:00 p.m., 100 percent of the affected systems were back online. PLN guarantees that all areas that experienced supply disruptions from the substation have returned to normal,” Haris said in a statement, as quoted by Kompas.com.

The neighborhoods hit by the outage included Angke, Kebon Jeruk, Kebayoran Lama, Kebayoran Baru, Mampang, Ketapang and Karet.
