Gerindra Party chief and its presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto has opened the possibility of working together with the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) for the upcoming presidential race after the ruling party named Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo as its presidential candidate.
“We will see. All possibilities can [happen]. What is important in politics is that we seek the good for the nation and the people," Prabowo told reporters on Saturday after performing Idul Fitri prayers at the Al Azhar Grand Mosque in South Jakarta, as quoted by kompas.com.
Prabowo, who lost to President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo in the last two presidential elections, is reportedly among the presidential hopefuls whom Jokowi considered to endorse as his potential successor, and has made a substantial electoral gain following a series of high-profile meetings with other political elites.
The former general is expected to meet with Jokowi, along with his son Surakarta Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka, this afternoon at the President’s private residence in Banjarsari, Solo.

"I will spend time with my family at home. After that I will be leaving for Surakarta," Prabowo said.
PDI-P matriarch Megawati Soekarnoputri named Ganjar as the party’s presidential candidate on Friday, ending months of speculation that she was struggling to make her decision whether to pave ways for another political “outsider” to help the party win the upcoming elections, or to push for her political heir to maintain the Sukarno dynasty’s stranglehold on the party.
