Seknas Jokowi, a group of President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo supporters, pledged its support for popular Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo, and Jokowi’s fellow member in the largest party in the ruling coalition, for a presidential run in 2024.
This came following a Friday announcement by the largest party in the ruling coalition, the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), matriarch Megawati Soekarnoputri, to name Ganjar as its presidential candidate for 2024. Megawati at the time was accompanied by Jokowi along with Megawati’s children: House of Representatives Speaker Puan Maharani, who heads the party’s executive board, and party’s head of situation analysis and control center Prananda Prabowo.
"We fully support its decision [to support Ganjar in 2024]," Seknas Jokowi chair Rambun Tjajo said in a press release on Friday, adding leadership of the supporter group immediately held a virtual meeting to respond to Ganjar’s endorsement.
“Ganjar is the right person to continue the leadership of Jokowi,” said Warsito Ellwein, a senior member of Seknas Jokowi, citing Ganjar’s experience and achievements in leading Central Java.

Ganjar’s appointment was officially announced after extensive dialogue with the PDI-P’s elites and figures, including Jokowi, Megawati said, adding it was in line with the people’s aspirations. The announcement ended months of speculation that Megawati was struggling to make her decision, whether to pave the way for another political “outsider” to help the party win the upcoming elections, or to push for her political heir to maintain the Sukarno dynasty’s stranglehold on the party.
Meanwhile, another known Jokowi supporter group Jokowi Mania (JoMan) stands by the decision it made in February to support Prabowo in the 2024 elections. JoMan at the time switched its support from Ganjar to Prabowo.
