Earlier in the day, Jokowi appointed Budi Arie Setiadi, who heads one of Jokowi’s most prominent supporter groups, ProJo, as the new communications and information minister
For the first time, President Jokowi also set up a deputy position for Budi and appointed former The Jakarta Post chief editor Nezar Patria for the slot.
In the past year, Nezar has served as communications adviser for State-owned Enterprises Minister Erick Thohir.
When asked if Jokowi's decision to appoint Budi to the Cabinet position was a reward for his support for Gerindra Party chairman Prabowo Subianto's presidential bid, Hasto said that such speculation did not hold water.
