Ganjar said the campaign strategy, including meeting with local communities and the choice of departing locations, was his idea.
Presidential candidate Ganjar Pranowo said on Monday that he would begin his campaign in Papua, while his running mate, Mahfud MD, would start from Aceh.
“I [start from] Papua, and Mahfud starts from Aceh,” said Ganjar, as quoted by Antara news agency.
The candidates will use the 75-day campaign period, which starts on Tuesday and ends on Feb. 10, 2024, to travel across the country.
Ganjar said the campaign strategy, including meeting with local communities and the choice of departing locations, was his idea. He added that the preparations were complete and that he and Mahfud were ready to start the campaign.
The presidential candidate pledged he would work to ensure a peaceful election as he signed a declaration drafted by the Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu).
The General Elections Commission (KPU) has scheduled the elections for Feb. 14, 2024.
Ganjar and Mahfud will compete against Anies Baswedan and his running mate Muhaimin Iskandar, as well as Prabowo Subianto and his running mate Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
