The leadership selection committee for the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has offered a list of 10 candidates to President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo.
resident Joko "Jokowi" Widodo received on Tuesday a short list of 10 candidates to serve as leaders of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
The KPK leadership selection committee, led by Muhammad Yusuf Ateh, submitted the list to Jokowi at the Holding Room of Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in East Jakarta, before the President left for East Nusa Tenggara for a working visit.
"We have set criteria for selecting [KPK leadership] candidates, namely integrity, capability and acceptability. Reputation and public trust are also important considerations for us," selection committee deputy chairman Arief Satria said on Tuesday, as quoted by kompas.com.
The list includes former Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) deputy chairman Agus Joko Pramono, former Indonesian Ombudsman member Ahmad Alamsyah Saragih, Central Kalimantan Police chief Insp. Gen. Djoko Poerwanto, attorney at the Attorney General's Office and former KPK prosecution director Fitroh Rohcahyanto and Supreme Court justice Ibnu Basuki Widodo.
The list also included former Election Organization Ethics Council (DKPP) member Ida Budhiati, incumbent KPK commissioner Johanis Tanak, National Police Commission (Kompolnas) member Poengky Indarti, Jakarta Financial Management Agency (BPKD) head Michael Rolandi C. Brata and three-star police general Comr. Gen. Setyo Budiyanto, who is currently serving as the Agriculture Ministry’s inspector general.
The 10 commissioner candidates had passed the interview and health test selection stages, with the latter occurring at the Gatot Soebroto Army Central Hospital.
The President will hand over the list of names to the House of Representatives.
The newly sworn-in lawmakers at House Commission III, overseeing legal, human rights and security affairs, will screen the candidates and approve half of them later this year before the tenure of the incumbent KPK commissioners comes to an end in December.
The committee also submitted 10 candidates for the antigraft body’s supervisory council. (jan)
