ozens of houses were damaged and several hundred residents affected as heavy rain and strong winds on Tuesday caused flooding and landslides in West Java’s Bandung and Garut regencies and Sukabumi city.

During a visit to one of the affected areas, Banjaran Wetan village in Bandung regency, acting West Java governor Bey Machmuddin said residents would need clean water in the next few days due to flooding from the local Citalugtug River.

However, the government has not erected emergency tents for evacuation as most residents have chosen to evacuate to nearby relatives’ homes or remain on their own.
