Dutch national may face the death penalty after Bali authorities allegedly uncovered a hydroponic cannabis farm in his rented house, the latest in a string of drug-related cases involving foreigners on the popular holiday island.
The suspect, identified only by his initials NR, 31, was arrested alongside his wife, 33, a Russian national, during a police raid on October 1 at a property on Jl. Bina Kusuma in Ubung Kaja, Denpasar.
According to the head of the Bali Police narcotics unit, Sr. Comr. Radiant, authorities launched the raid following a tip-off from local residents and weeks of surveillance.
“We received information from the community about suspected drug activity at the house,” Radiant said recently.
