View all search resultsSpeculation has surfaced that the killing may be linked to a long-running feud between Nus and his nephew-turned-rival, notorious gang leader John Refra Kei.
ead of the Southeast Maluku branch of the Golkar Party in Maluku, Agrapinus Rumatora, widely known as Nus Kei, was fatally stabbed at a local airport on Sunday.
According to police, the attack occurred at around 11:30 a.m. at the arrivals gate of Karel Sadsuitubun Airport, shortly after Nus disembarked from a flight from Jakarta.
An unidentified assailant wearing a face mask approached and stabbed him before fleeing the scene.
Nus was rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead at around 12 p.m. He sustained four stab wounds, including to the chest and neck.
Police later apprehended two suspects, identified only as 28-year-old HR and 36-year-old FU, hours after the attack.
Southeast Maluku Police chief Sr. Adj. Comr. Rian Suhendi said the attack was motivated by “old grudges.”
“The two suspects claimed they believed Nus Kei was involved in the killing of their relative, Fenansius Wadanubun, also known as Dani Hollat, who died near the Metro Galaxy Kalimalang apartment complex in Bekasi, West Java, in 2020,” he said on Monday, as quoted by Tribunnews.com.
