Langkat residents grateful after KPK arrests regent

The Langkat regent’s office on Jl. Proklamasi in Stabat district, the regency administrative seat, received dozens of flower boards on Monday sent by various groups of residents. Many played on the regent’s nickname Ondim, referring to him as ongkos dimuka (payment upfront).

esidents in Langkat regency, North Sumatra, have thanked the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) for arresting Langkat Regent Syah “Ondim” Afandin for alleged bribery in projects at the regency’s education and housing and settlement agencies.

The Langkat regent’s office on Jl. Proklamasi in Stabat district, the regency administrative seat, received dozens of flower boards on Monday sent by various groups of residents.

Many played on the regent’s nickname Ondim, referring to him as ongkos dimuka (payment upfront).

“Thank you KPK for arresting Ondim (Ongkos Dimuka), Langkat Regent,” one flower board read at the regent’s office.

Local man Bambang expressed his gratitude to the KPK for the arrest. He said residents were disappointed with Syah Afandin’s leadership, claiming he did not pay attention to the state of the community, such as damaged roads that could be found all across the regency.
