The wait is over. The third season of Netflix’s hit sci-fi series Stranger Things is set to premiere on Thursday.

Since its release in 2016, the series has become a pop culture phenomenon with many praising it for combining realistic and lovable characters, 1980's references and a thrilling story.

After nearly two years of hiatus, Stranger Things returns with more conflict. This time, the show's creators/writers Matt and Ross Duffer take viewers to the steamy summer of 1985.

The fictional town Hawkins, Indiana, welcomes a new shopping mall, which becomes an important part of the story. Meanwhile, the main characters are all grown up, adding more teenage drama to the plot.

Without question, the Duffer Brothers needed to work harder to pull of the series, as they had to make sure the story stayed relevant and fresh while adjusting the cast, which are no longer children.

The Jakarta Post had the pleasure of watching the first four episodes of season three in June and is glad to report that the show still managed to keep up with fans' expectations.

A trailer was released a week later on June 20 and it still managed to surprise and tickle our curiosity.
