'We apologize for the inconvenience': Bukalapak goes missing from Google Play store

The app was reportedly no longer available on the official app store for the Android operating system as of Wednesday night.

Online marketplace Bukalapak’s mobile application is currently missing from Google Play store.

According to Antara news agency on Thursday, the app was no longer available on the official app store for the Android operating system as of Wednesday night. 

Some netizens could be found sharing their confusion regarding the situation on social media.

"@BukaBantuan What's up with Bukalapak? Why [has Google] Play store deleted Bukalapak app?" asked @joeIND1 on Twitter, who also attached a screenshot of the Google Play Store on his smartphone.

"@bukalapak #bukalapak app is missing from [Google] Play store. This is urgent!!" shared @dywulandari.

The app could still be found on Apple's App Store, however, alongside its competitors such as Tokopedia and Shopee, reported Antara.

According to a statement released by the company on Thursday, the app is currently undergoing download issues on Google Play store, "however this doesn't affect selling-and-buying service activity at Bukalapak". 

It also notes that the operations of the company's customer service BukaBantuan is still normally accessible.

"We apologize for the inconvenience for new users who want to download our app through Google Play store," the statement continued, adding that it was currently conducting "updating efforts" regarding the matter.

"Mitra Bukalapak app [dedicated for the e-commerce's merchant partners] at Google Play store and Bukalapak app at Apple's App Store are still available for download," read the post. (kes)
