ndonesian social tracker app Campaign #ForChange and online game Garena Fantasy Town are included on this year's list of Google Play’s best apps and games.

The winners were voted for by Google Play’s users and editors. The categories include Best App of 2020, Users’ Choice App of 2020, Best App for Good, Best Everyday Essentials, Best for Personal Growth, Best Hidden Gems, Best Competitive Games and Best Indie Games.

Launched by Campaign.com on April 2017, Campaign #ForChange was named by Google Play as Indonesia’s Best App for Good. The app, which has been downloaded by over 38,800 users, is considered to offer a new way to conduct social campaigns.

CEO of Campaign.com William Gondokusumo wrote in a statement that Campaign #ForChange had improved in three years, including in collaborations.

“In mid-2020, Campaign.com conducted a survey in 72 social communities in 15 provinces, which revealed that 90.28 percent of their social activities were limited by the COVID-19 pandemic and 99.44 percent of them needed help,” William said. “We answered these challenges by teaming up with more parties in Campaign #ForChange’s social challenges, such as those in the private sector, social communities, educational institutions and the youth. We believe that by optimizing collaboration, wider social impacts and positive changes will be easily achieved.”

Some initiatives presented by Campaign.com in Campaign #ForChange were #SiapKebiasaanBaru (#ReadyforNewHabit) for the young generations to adapt in the new normal period and Social Fair Day, which helped students to explore certain issues by having direct discussions with social communities.

For the Best App of 2020, Google Play’s editors chose Loóna: Bedtime Calm & Relax for widening people’s knowledge about sleeping and helping them to maximize their resting time.

Other names on this year's list are educational apps Skill Academy by Ruangguru and CoLearn: Foto Soal MTK dan Belajar Online SMA-SMP in the Best for Personal Growth category, business app Meesho: Kerja dari Rumah, Jual dan dapatkan Uang in the Best Everyday Essentials category and social-music streaming app Resso in the Best for Fun category.

Launched in March, Resso combines music and user connectivity at the same time, allowing its users to listen to their favorite songs, interact with their favorite musicians and share them on social media in creative ways.

Resso Indonesia’s country manager Tricia Dizon said numerous people found solace in music in this challenging time. “We dedicate this award to our users and partners who have supported us this year and selected Resso as their home for listening to music,” Tricia said.

In the games section, town simulator game Garena Fantasy Town is listed in the Best Casual Game category. Developed by Arumgames and released by Garena Indonesia, the game was released in July and received praise for featuring characters from Indonesian folklore, including Kabayan, Iteung and Radu.

Google Play’s Best Game and Users’ Choice Game of 2020 was awarded to Genshin Impact by Chinese video game developer miHoYo. The game is said to feature amazing realms to explore and mysteries to uncover. (wir/wng)
