he 18th Asian Games have yet to conclude, but Lindswell Kwok has received a special gift for her gold medal-winning run in the wushu competition at the continent’s biggest sporting meet.
The reward for Lindswell, dubbed the Asian queen of wushu by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, came from China’s carmaker Wuling Motors.
PT Wuling Motors sales director Nathan Sun said in a press release on Sunday the gift was its show of appreciation for Lindswell’s consistency in fighting to win and achieve national pride in international events. He said the company deliberately chose a Confero S for Lindswell as she, because of her win, had united the nation, the spirit behind the manufacturing of the multipurpose vehicle.
Lindswell bid an ideal farewell to the national team before retiring from international duty with a gold medal in her favorite discipline taijijian-taijiquan last Monday. It was the second gold medal for Indonesia, which has set a target of collecting 16 golds to finish among the top 10 in the Games.
She previously won a silver in the 2014 Asian Games, four golds in the Southeast Asian Games in 2011-2017 and a gold medal in the World Championship in Kazan, Russia in 2017.
